This blackish female was about 6 mm. It seems to blackish but my thoughts is about Lejogaster or Orthonevra brevicornis, but brevicornis should propably not be present here up north. Can anyone help me?

Thanks for your help Andre.
It seems that we here i northern part of Sweden should have M. aerosa, and parumplicata. Could it one of them?

Considering the apparent absence of hairs on the mesoscutum, my guess would be M. nuda. But it's possible that the hairs are there, but just not visible on this picture.

Thanks for your reply Menno. M. nuda should only be present about 800 km south of my place. M. hirtella can be found about 250 km from here. I understand that females is very difficult.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
