is it possible to identify this asilidae (maybe Philonicus albiceps) ? Dimension about 20 mm. Found on 19.07.2010 - Fiumedinisi - Messina - Sicily - Italy

It seems to me that the facial knob is too big for P. albiceps, also the bristles on the legs seem black in P. albiceps they should be light coloured. The ovipositor looks like a Philonicus....Frown Puzzling
