Saw this one with remarkable yellow face yesterday. Any suggestions?

Thank you Danny!

I noticed it actually resembles your avatar!

I checked and saw that six other Choerades species are thus far recorded from Norway or Sweden. If none of these happens to belong to the marginata group, then C. marginata ("stripet rovflue" ) is all the more plausible.

Choerades fimbriata
Choerades fuliginosa
Choerades gilva [gyllen rovflue, gyllen rovfluge]
Choerades ignea [ildrovflue, eldrovfluge]
Choerades lapponica
Choerades rufipes

Hi Louis,

I'm not sure, whether all the Norwegian Ch. marginata specimens have benn checked for being Ch. femorata, a species which can also occur in Norway in my opinion. Separating these species is not possible for your picture.

Greetings, Danny

Hello Louis,

In Holland there is secretly the same problem. Most of the Choerades marginata in Holland are probably C. femorata. New developments in research in Germany by Geller Grimm see Choerades key on his site.
Greetings,

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
