 Syrphus vitripennis/ribesii?

Found these 2 syrphids yesterday in a garden, Kalmthout, Belgium. With my key, I arrive at Syrphus vitripennis, but I think at least the first one is too big. Is S. ribesii possible? Thanks in advance! I got S. vitripennis confirmed for specimen 2. Any thoughts on specimen 1? |

Both are females Syrphus, and because their 3rd femur is largely black we are left with torvus and vitripennis. The former has haired eyes (have a good look, not always dense) and the tip of femur 3 with short apressed black hairs. Vitripennis has bare eyse and short apressed yellow hairs and the tip of femur 3. Both characters are hard to assess from the pictures, but if you still have them at home you might be able to identify them with this info. greetings, Sander |
