I found this Haematopota sp. on the shore of a river. I found the eyes to be a bit strange. Is it simply Haematopota pluvialis with damaged eyes or a different species? http://www.flickr...otostream/ http://www.flickr...otostream/ http://www.flickr...otostream/ Ps, i put in the links, because the photo's we'rent working :/ Edited by LakeSide on 13-08-2010 08:11 Jaco Visser www.flickr.com/photos/nuclearlakeside |

Haematopota crassicornis, I'd say.

Paul, it is a male, the shape of the first antennal segment is strongly sexual dimorph. So crassicornis it is certainly not, but difficult to be more positive, most likely either pluvialis or subcylindrica. Theo |
