This male micropezid was caught in the high north of Russia near Vorkuta at the end of july. Next to the two processes visible on the ventral side of the abdomen it also has two strong processes between coxae 3. Is it a male Cnodacophora stylifera? Hi Gerard! This is indeed Cnodacophora stylifera. The reason that I found this posting just now is that I am at the moment visiting the zoological museum in Lund. In front of me right now is a series of 11 specimens of C. stylifera collected in Abisko, Northernmost Sweden in June and July of 1918, 1922 and 1926. Your specimen looks identical. Those ventral processes are absolutely crazy! |
