Hi, Recently I saw this small fly on a fallen split tree and had no idea what it was. As I opened the forum site, the changing pic of the home page just showed a very similar fly photographed by Jorge. So I suppose I got a Clusiodes of a family new to me. Provided that there really are only two fronto-orbitals bristles as it appears, this is either Clusiodes caledonicus or gentilis - and based on the generally light coloration I'm leaning towards gentilis. Not 100% sure though, tricky to tell from photographs, and especially so a female. |
