Having suffered a bout of "Pollet's Syndrome" yesterday while trying to ID a Doli, I thought I would check to see if the affliction had abated. This one was spotted a couple of days ago on Sea Pink (Thrift). I think it was about 4-5mm in length. Is it Liancalus virens, and if so, is it male or female? Sorry, Roger. Fore femur spinose ventrally, therefore Hydrophorus female is most probable.

No need to apologise Igor, Hydrophorus sp. is OK. First one I've bumped into up here. Only have 1 species listed for Shetland which is H.albiceps...don't suppose that means a lot in the ID'ing of this one... Regards Roger |
