Dear all, This evening I made a picture of a mayfly or as we call them in Holland: one-day-fly. Unfortunately it was windy and so the delicate fly could barely hold on to my kitchendoor. And ofcourse there was not much light, so the picture is somewhat overlighted . I guess there is not much to say about this specie. I am just curious whether the yellows balls are it's eyes. These mayflies fascinate me. I seldom see them, but that is not so strange, because they do not live that long. It is a good thing that I took a picture shar attached the following image: [78.67Kb] |

Hi Shar. I think that your Ephemeroptera is male of Cloeon dipterum. It is one of the most common Ephemeroptera. Larvae of Cloeon dipterum live in small ponds even with dirty water. Nikita Nikita Vikhrev - Zool Museum of Moscow University |
