Tachinidae Blondeliini Male, most likely Uromedina caudata But there some other genera with species with a tail. I would need a specimen for 100% identifications. Liekele |

Very nice I was given some neotropical tachinids with tails and had guessed that they were just Uramya but they turned out to be Trichodura, so the situation is always more complicated that it first seems Edited by ChrisR on 22-06-2010 19:57 Manager of the UK Species Inventory in the Angela Marmont Centre for UK Biodiversity at the Natural History Museum, London. |

Looks like someone tried pulling most of the extremities but did not succeed in breaking the specimen but rather just streched the extremities.

This is a real Uramya (in the BMNH collection) I really love the neotropics! Edited by ChrisR on 22-06-2010 21:51 Manager of the UK Species Inventory in the Angela Marmont Centre for UK Biodiversity at the Natural History Museum, London. |
