I have the specimen and the microscope but no key. Is there any hope of going further?

That's right, they don't. I had another look with the microscope, and there is no suggestion of a vein in the gap, not even unpigmented. On the right wing there is a short return at the end of the costa (you can see it in the second picture), but on the left the costa just fades out around the place where the vein would have met it.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
