Hello,

this Beris specimen with the dark wings is from some days ago from near Cologne. Are there any suggestions about the species? Lenght was about 9mm.

Thanks,
Michael

Hello

here is another, rather bad picture from the side. At least one can see that the abdomen is orange. Does this perhaps help? Or still no chance?

Hi Michael,

after the description in British entomology: being illustrations and descriptions of the genera of insects found in Great-Britain and Ireland 1830, Band 7
from John Curtis
it should Beris clavipes its, smoky Wings in female sex.
But whether is still correct!?

Regards,

Frank

Hello Frank,

thank yor for the answer. This is really old! But I think I don't make a mistake if I labe it cf. clavipes (W).

There are many more modern keys, but still, given the features mentioned, it is female clavipes.

I will try to fix the messages this month. We have to make some other configuration changes before software goes out of support at end of year.
