Unknown very small dead fly found

It appears to look like a mosquito, but so small!

And to give an idea of size this is an uncropped out of the camera pic, showing the sensor's view at 1:1 magnification (lifesize with my macro lens at 1:1)
The dimensions 15.1 x 22.7 is the size of my sensor.

Orthocladiinae are in that size of range, body 2 mm

It seems to be a Culicid mosquito, not Orthocladiinae.

Hi Larry
It's a small male Culex that's lost the tips of its palps. Depending on the breeding conditions, some mosquitoes can vary quite a bit in size - 5mm is not unusual for a male Culex.

I recognise the name Culex and once made a drawing of a Cukex pipens (Mosquito)
