Such phenomena is known for Sciaridae. They can form rings about 1 metre in diameter like this in Europe on litter. Dark black head and transparent body integument are additional evidence that they are to be Sciaridae. |

Really interesting ! It was a species described from Poland which larvae are walking in procession Sciara militaris Nowicki, 1868 (Der Kopaliner Heerwurm und die aus ihm hervorgehende Sciara militaris n. sp. – Verh. naturforsch. Ver. Brunn. – Brunn, 6 (1867): 1-69)
