Hi, I know Sylvicola is hardly identifiable to species. No chance to apply the key to the photos. However, I hope for the experts' guess by jizz. Here are two flies that surely represent different species (or is there such big sexual dimorphism?) - what do you say? The first one is a female of June 2008, and it might be S. fenestralis. It is brownish and has spotted hind femora and spurred hind tibiae. The second one, a male, I saw two days ago dancing in a swarm. When it sat down to rest I took some photos. It is greyish and has hind legs of enormous length! The hind femora are not spotted, and I can't see a spur on the hind tibiae. Might this be helpful?
