Does any member of Diptera Info happen to be sitting nicely and comfortably beside a good reference series of the muscid Phaonia canescens Stein? It is a species only recently recorded from Finland but not present in museum collections here. And now I've got a male specimen which is quite near in genitals but two details don't fit particularly well with Gregor et alīs description (and also Lindner is very scant with words as to this species): - tibiae clear yellow (should be dark/brownish yellow) - prealar just a little more than half as long as dorcocentrals (should be as long) Maybe I'm being too exact here, but yet these details bother... |

I would not recognise it if it hit me in the face...

Probably would not feel it either.
