Can anyone tell me if I've identified this large black and white mosquito correctly as Aedes geniculatus? Photographed on 26.6.09 in Wiltshire, on limestone grassland near woodland. NickU - Generalist naturalist and photographer nick upton attached the following image: [146.63Kb] |

Many thanks Tony. I was fairly sure I'd got this right, but didn't use keys, just comparison with other online photos. That isn't enough for many flies, of course, but good to know it is possible for some mosquitos at least. Nick Upton |
