My balcony remains a wealth of interesting flies. This one was found around 2 hours ago upon my returning home from Moscow.
Size 9mm.
Don't ask me why but I have a strong feeling that this nice fly is related to Lydella in http://www.dipter...ad_id=2768 - maybe its overall look, although the eyes are hairy, etc.

It's a female Carcelia.
Impossible to be sure, but could be lucorum.

Nice pictures, as always

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol
