of a Lepidoptera.

This photo was taken by my friend Pedro Pires with mine orientation. This photo has 2 mm maximum length! We used Canon 30D + teleconverter for canon + mine extension Kenko tubes + M-PE 65 mm + two flashes with home-made diffusers, and a very strong monopod to keep all full set (about 42 cm length.) very tight. The photo shows the scales of a butterfly with less than 0,2 mm with a very impressive detail and an exuvia of an acari - less than 1 mm. The post-processing was made by myself with Adobe CS3. This is the first microphotography we made. Soon we will try with dipters and neuropters. Enjoy.

I hope to get some photos of the wings and maybe (?) halteres from flies. It only works with flat surfaces, unless I use the stacking. With this magnification it is rather hard to get decent photos. But with this gear it gives some good results.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
