July 23, 2006.
Two specimens of identical size (11mm) were collected (not without some swinging of my net) around 5.30 p.m. on an earth road at the edge of our park near the Nara river. These are my first decent Bombyliidae images.

I've got today this fly, which was collected by Black.
Calypter (I don't know is this term siutable in case of Bombyliidae) is all black, so Thyridanthrax fenestratus.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
