Hi!

Wonder if it is possible to determine the species of this small fly. It is photographed in my garden in Småland, Sweden 5/9 2008.
Thanks in advance.
Sincerely / Sven

Hej Sven,

This is an Anthomyiidae. Could be a Pegomya sp. (female) but I can't say for certain.

Thanks Lars for your reply. I suspect that it probably would be difficult to put names on it.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
