Hello to all! It took me some patience to get some decent pictures of this beautiful monster fly, but in the end it worked. It was about 12-15mm long. Does anyone know more about it? 19.8.2009, Ecuador, Prov. Tungurahua, Baños, near Bellavista, about 1900m asl Rupert Huber attached the following image: [180.73Kb] Best greetings Rupert |

Superb! Again, I can't give you a name but it looks like a wonderful fly. Did you get any specimens while you were there?

I'm sorry, Chris, but I'm not collecting but pictures and, slowly starting, Tabanids (this question is coming frequently). The only specimens I took with me are 2 Tabanids (coming soon, but far less attractive than these Tachinids, of course).
