Is there a European equivalent of "Manual of Central American Diptera" or "American Insects: A Handbook of Insects of America North of Mexico" by Arnett

I have "Insects of Britain and Western Europe" by Chinery. There seem to be lots of very specialised books but not too much with a broad but deep scope.
Thanks, Andrew

You should have a look at the "Manual of Palaearctic Diptera", expensive, but with a broad but deep scope.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
