Is this the right place to ask members the names of various flies? Kralingen ZH, the Netherlands   Thanks in advance, the results will be used on my website http://insecten.in.kralingen.nl (I think the flower is Crataegus crus-galli  )

Hoi Elck, The upper photo shows an Empididae, most probably Empis tessellata! The other photo pictures a Dung fly of the family Scathophagidae, and it could very well be the Golden Dungfly, Scathophaga stercoraria! Greetings Greetings, Gerard Pennards |

The fork in the posterior radial vein (R4+5) is absent, so it must be a species of Rhamphomyia. The colour pattern in the wing makes me think of R. cinerascens, of which the females have a partly darkened base of the wing.
