Yes - top one at least is female (with 'pincers' ... the long petiole, shiny black colour and those huge, white calyptrae are quite distinctive. Very difficult genus. I have been working on a batch recently and they work through the key sometimes but there's always a degree of uncertainty about them Manager of the UK Species Inventory in the Angela Marmont Centre for UK Biodiversity at the Natural History Museum, London. |
