I have a question about identifying Hybos grossipes

Probably a stupid question but here goes:
I know I should be looking for black setae on the thorax but does that include the scutellum?
Is there anything else to look for when separating it from culiciformis?

I assume it is culiciformis in the picture?

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
