I know I've seen this in the forum, but can't find it in the gallery. On hogweed in Lancashire, NW England. Help please!

Thanks for the quick response, Rui.
Doesn't the subscutellum exclude Muscidae though? But I see that you are right, of course. Is the black area below the scutellum just the end of the thorax? How do I learn to tell the difference?

Oh, I see now - it's just part of the pattern on the abdomen. Silly me!Frown

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
