This Terellia was on 9th August 2009 in Saint Xandres, La Rochelle, Charentes-Maritimes, west France. I was suprised because I always associate Terellia with thistles, Centaurea and other Asteraceae, but this one was on Apiaceae flower. In open fields and road... Could it be identified? Thanks |

Terellia serratulae L. (-aggregation?) T. serratulae has different host plant association throughout Europe, and my current project aims to clarify if they are "more than merely host races". This female, however, is feeding on carrot flowers, which is qite a common thing. Edited by Nosferatumyia on 26-08-2009 12:13 Val |

Thanks Valery. A pity that I already had T. serratulae, but found (in enormous quantities) over flowers of Cynara humilis, a big thistle of southern Spain. |
