Can anyone tell me which Dilophus this is; I guess febrilis would be most likely but is there any way to be certain from a photo?

17/8/2009; Devon, England.

Thanks

Tim

Dilophus males are impossible from picture

Good news: second generation febrilis is extremely common at the moment, so that is my bet.

Be assured it had nothing to do with the quality or your pic.

And females are often well possible to ID....

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
