Of these yellow flies a number has been flying today in a wood in Northern Germany. Anybody knows them?

Looks like a female Phaonia pallida, but it's too far away to be certain. How big was it?

Phaonia pallida - good guess, Lars.
How big it was? Hard to say, I didn't catch it. Not too big, as you may see in comparison to the leaf it is sitting on, maybe around 10 mms.
