With hairy eyes and strong ocellar bristles? Nope. I bet it is Phryxe, possibly heraclei. Any chance the apical scutellar bristles are erecit (invisible in the pic) ? Theo |

There you go. Phryxe is a difficult genus, certain ID need genitalia However, if you take a very good picture dorsally of the abdomen, obliquely from behind, I might take a guess. Theo |

Don't know if this is good enough. We have four species to choose in Finland: erythrostoma, magnicornis, nemea and vulgaris

The real thing obviously always beats the pictures, even if the picture is excellent as above. Already without genitalia examined I'd guessed it should be magnicornis, genitalia confirmed this. Now I know it, I can see it in the picture.... (hindsight knowledge) Theo |
