 A new one on me. I think this has to be a Tachinid, though it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong. Can't even begin to try to key it so I just hope one of you experts will recognise it. Apologies for the shocking photo, only got the one and it spooked before I could move in...

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
