Was visiting an old Pictish Broch with one of my grandsons when I came on this fly. Looking through the Gallery I see it is Calliphoridae..Bellardia. There were two individuals on the plant, one about 6mm, and the other about 8-9mm. don't know which is which in these photo's but I think they were both males. Got 2 species of Bellardia recorded in Shetland; B.viarum and B.vulgaris. Is it possible to get to species on these? I noted that the ones in the Gallery are all Bellardia sp.
