very odd to be a tachinid.. maybe a sarcophagid?? Wohlfarthia?.. or near? .. not sure! |

I'm not convinced that it is a sarcophagid - it reminds me of of the tachinid Billaea maritima, which I photographed at the Moscow Zoological Museum recently: Edited by ChrisR on 20-07-2009 18:58 Manager of the UK Species Inventory in the Angela Marmont Centre for UK Biodiversity at the Natural History Museum, London. |

yes... now Chris has convinced me htat this tis a tachinid. Subscutellum is visible on the second photo! |

I agree with Chris, the genus seems correct. maritima has the yellow antennas. I am 60 km of the sea, can be with the wind I live in the inside of Provence, at the beginning of the Alps. Edited by christoophe on 21-07-2009 08:06 |

Definitely a Tachinid: Billaea. The female of B. maritima, to be precise. Rather Mediterrean species, I know it from Bulgaria. Theo |
