This week several different Tabanidae were trapped in our conservatory. The weather was ...hot.
Yesterday we found a shokking big Tabanus sudeticus
http://forum.waarneming.nl/smf/index.php?topic=83550.0

and today a hybomitra was lucky we found it before dehydration.
Does anyone know a second name for this?
