Spotted this little Sawfly (5mm ish) a couple of days ago in the garden...never seen this one before up here...Anyone ID it? I see Michael Ackland thinks we should have a section on Mollusca (in the shoutbox), to match slow speed of site, was almost tempted to send pictures of various whelks collected by my grandchildern off the beaches...but thought better of it...maybe in winter when there isn't much insect activity...so swot up on Whelks and stuff..  you have been warned Michael.

Thank you Jorgen and Phil...the only Sawfly on my Checklist is Nematus ribesii..don't know what that looks like in adult form, as all I can find are photo's of caterpillars  .Spanners and Saw have grown rusty with lack of use...but at least something this size doesn't require SCAFFOLDING  .Regards Roger |
