Hello,

this ~8mm fly is from two weeks ago. I found it on an Anthemis-plant at a roadside near Cologne. I am not sure about the family. A Rhinophoridae perhaps? What is it?

Thanks,
Michael

Thank you for your answer Gabor.

When I try to read the key "Rhinophoridae in Nederland" I think there is no chance to get the species, because it would need a picture from the side.

Greetings,
Michael

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
