At first time I thinked in Nemestrinidae, but seeing it closely showed me only a tabanid, probably a small kind of Pangonius. Today. Peñaflor, Aragón, NE Spain, 300 meters, sucking thistles, attracted too to my camera where it landed. Cold it be identified? Thanks Isidro |

Yes, it is a male Pangonius. Difficult genus, very difficult to say from these pictures. First guess is male variegatus. Theo |

Thanks a lot Theo, yes clearly a male, but the species... I will put as Pangonius aff. variegatus. At least we have a guess, not as in this one http://www.diptera.info/forum/viewthread.php?forum_id=5&thread_id=13762 |
