Hello,

this rather small (~8mm) Bombylidae is from april from the south of Tenerife. For me pictures of the genus Exhyalanthrax in the gallery seemed most similar.

Can the genus or the species be identified here?

Thanks,
Michael

Hello Francois,

this seems to be an endemic species which was described rather recently? I can't really see a big difference between the Exhylaanthrax species. Can you tell me, for what characteristics I have to look for?

Thanks,
Michael

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
