Hi,
Today I saw several flies of probably the same Agromyzid species sitting on a Valeriana officinalis plant. Can they receive a name?
Many thanks, Sundew

Well, I often see these little ones - some have a yellow scutellum, some have a grey one, but all have this yellow/grey overall appearance and yellow "knees". So obviously all belong to Phytomyza and cannot be identified as to species. Therefore I'll stop photographing them.
Many thanks to both of you, Sundew

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
