Found in my garden. Size approx 2-3mm ish.

Not absolutely certain, but possibly a young Orchesella villosa

Hi Tony Sent this to Peter Shaw (Springtail Recorder for UK) who reckons it to be Entomobrya multifasciata. Must admit it does look like Orchesella villosa though. But he should know. Regards Roger |

Entomobrya multifasciata was the other species I considered, so I'm pleased that Peter thinks it's that! Collembola are not a group I've looked at very much, but there are much better keys available now, so when I get the chance ... Tony ---------- Tony Irwin |

Hi Tony I'm afraid when it comes to looking at keys, my old eyes tend to glaze over . I'll leave that to those who know. I've just got a new camera and the same happens looking through the manual. Struggling a bit with it, but I'll get there despite the manual. Regards Roger |
