Yes, a syrphid.
A female Eumerus sp., but it will be very difficult to get to species, it's a difficult genus, especially from Africa!

Females eyes are placed further apart. Males eyes almost touch each other in the middle.

There is a separate Syrphid Forum on this site.

The round abdomen and the yellow hairs around the scutellum are typical for E. feae. But there are several species in this group and only the males can be identified and only after the dissection of the genitalia... Nice fly and a great pic!

I collected several specimens of Emerus feae-group this season in Thailand. Males Grin
In my fly scutellum is all dark, but antennae, on the contrary, yellow.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
