The fly was about 3cm long. It never stayed steadily in one place, always moving around the wall. It hardly ever sits on plants. Whenever I see it it is on the brick wall. Pictured in tanzania

This is a Hymenoptera. Not a fly.

Looks a bit Ampulex like (family Ampulicidae). Try a Hymenoptera forum like www.forum.hymis.de.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
