I suppose this fly belongs to the genus Platypalpus, but I need confirmation. From what I read, it is very difficult to determine Platypalpus species from a photo, is that the case with this one? One last question: I think the middle femur is enlarged to hold on the prey of the hybotid, am I correct? location: Portugal date: 09/11/2008 Edited by Rui Andrade on 11-11-2008 23:29 |

Platypalpus indeed. And the enlarged legs are used in poredation.
