Hi, As usual this fly is from Wetland Kerkini, from the mountains, several sites all above 1000 ms, Autumn. Rozkosny, 1987, has only one species with the displayed combination of a distinct propleural setae/bristle and only one orbital setae (F-bristle), Ditaeniella grisescens, this is not this species, it is two big and the Mesopleuron/Anepisternum is bare. As to the 2 couplets before this in the key. It can't be Pelidnoptera because as the lower inset shows there are no distinct seatae/bristles in the middle of the hind tibia, and wing venation rules out Salticella. I'd like to think it must be an undescribed species, but it seems more likely that I have made a mistake. All help gratefully recieved. Gordon Gordon attached the following image: [108.31Kb] |

Reminds me of Dryomyzidae.

Ah Paul, Where would I be without you. Looks an awful lot like a Sciomyzid still, and when you read the descriptions of the families in Oosterbroek there is a big area overlap for the less distinctive species. I wonder what makes them a separate family.????? Gordon |
