Can anyone confirm whether this fly is male empid fly? or other fly?

It's a female Empis. Any further info might get you more than just a genus name.

not really can give you more info, but I took this photo in England (Southampton) during the spring on common Daisy. Length probably around 8mm.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
