Well, looks like C.vomitoria to me - that specific brownish "beard" makes it quite easily distinguishable Wink

There are many more species in Finland then just vomitoria or vicina.
This is genarum or lookalike:
the calyptra is hardly darkened.
If you have more pictures, I could try to be more affirmative

Thanks Andrius and Theo, here are more photo's. If some place is especially needed I can look if I can find it in the other 4 photo's, which unfortunatly are mostly from same direction as these and here is the only one from above.

Last picture, the last: the basal humeral bristles stand clearly in a triangle, so definitely genarum-group. Very similar species.

I think this is genarum, given the relatively short hairs on arista.
The reddish hairs on occiput confuse me though, my material is all black (Siberia)

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
