Hello,

In the P?rigord (south of France), 21/VII/2008, 270 masl, size 10-15mm.

The general habitus makes it a Choerades for me.
And the golden hairs a C. fuliginosa?

Thanks in advance for any confirmation or infirmation.

You've probably already done this yourself, but having trawled the forum, Choerades fuliginosa seems a reasonable ID. Fulva/fimbriata and marginata/femorata seem to be less 'globally' hairy, with shorter sparser hairs in patches with more bare areas. I had a similar species last year in July from Central France that Danny ID'd as probably fuliginosa. http://www.dipter...ad_id=7278

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
