Hello all - can anybody help me identify this fly with the hairy thorax? I'm sure it will be a common one, but I'm no expert! The photograph was taken this week near Birmingham in the UK. The plant is Ragwort.

Hi Jez, this is a female Pollenia sp Calliphoridae. The golden hair on thorax is a feature of this genus. Stephane. |
