hi,

today i was for couple of hours in the forest and on a dead/fallen beech (Fagus sylvestris) found a lot of this small fly (collected several specimens), found there also a nice male of Rosalia alpina.

from Fauna EU is resulting that are 3 species in Romania from this genus (discoidea, intermedia and litura).

can be narrowed at species level?

thank you for the help,

Hi,
determination to the species level is not possible from these photos.
P. litura have trichiae on R 4+5, P. intermedia have not, p. discoidea have not spot between antenae - so third image is not P. discoidea.
